Amoebic dysentery and amoebic colitis occur when the intestine is infected by an organism called an amoeba. Giardiasis occurs when food, water, or soil contaminated with giardia germs is swallowed. Vaginitis is the inflammation of the vagina that can cause symptoms such as itching, pain, and smelly discharge. Protozoal infection can cause vaginitis.
